Hyderabad, March 2026 – Telangana Housing Minister P. Srinivas Reddy has said that over one lakh houses constructed under the Indiramma housing scheme will be handed over to the beneficiaries by March 31, and another one lakh by June. More specifically, 1,12,000 Indiramma houses sanctioned in the first phase will be constructed across the state by March 31, with another one lakh to be completed by June 1. The second phase of Indiramma houses will be sanctioned in April or the first week of May. In the first phase, 4.50 lakh houses were sanctioned across the state, with an additional 12,000 houses sanctioned for the Chenchu community and tribal people under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency jurisdiction. The government will incur approximately ₹22,500 crore for the construction of 4.50 lakh houses, at the rate of 3,500 houses per constituency. The announcement was made in response to questions raised by MLAs during the Question Hour in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on March 25.
Addressing Stalled 2BHK Units – The 99-Day Action Plan
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that all 2BHK houses that were either left incomplete or left without basic facilities will be allotted to eligible beneficiaries by the end of the 99-day action plan presently in progress, running from March 6 to June 12. Those 2BHK houses where beneficiaries were not staying, and newly allocated 2BHK houses, will be completed with basic facilities during the action plan period.
Out of 2,31,206 houses sanctioned during the previous BRS government, 1,62,936 houses were allotted, with some without basic facilities. The Housing Minister expressed concern about pending payments, directing officials to immediately clear outstanding installments and warning of strict action against those responsible for delays. He also asked officials to closely monitor houses nearing completion and ensure they are finished by end of June, and suggested district-level price control committees monitor construction material prices and take steps if costs increase, also directing encouragement of SHG women to establish brick manufacturing units locally.
Financial Assistance and Scheme Structure
Under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, the government provides ₹5 lakh in financial assistance to beneficiaries who already own land. Each house must have a minimum built-up area of 400 sq ft and a maximum of 600 sq ft. The government has also permitted G+1 construction on small plots where a 400 sq ft ground floor structure cannot be accommodated.
Indiramma houses that were left incomplete in the past including those sanctioned under the Gruha Laxmi scheme and partly constructed will also be given a nominal additional amount so that beneficiaries can complete the construction. Such houses will be taken up in the second phase.
