Hyderabad, March 2026 – The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has secured 11 acres of government land in Kondapur and Pragathi Nagar areas, with an estimated market value of ₹1,650 crore. The operation was carried out following public complaints received through Prajavani, highlighting illegal occupation of public land. In Kondapur village under Serilingampally mandal, two acres were reserved for a public park in Central Park Colony, a layout developed in 1998 with 148 plots across 16 acres. Though municipal authorities had previously demarcated the park land and constructed a boundary wall, encroachment attempts persisted, with some individuals allegedly threatening residents who resisted. In Pragathi Nagar, HYDRAA protected nine acres of government land adjoining Ambir Cheruvu, comprising five acres allocated for a cremation ground and four acres designated as a dumping yard. After a joint field inspection with revenue and GHMC officials, fencing was installed and signboards placed marking the land’s designated use.
HYDRAA’s 2026 Track Record: 87 Acres, ₹10,804 Crore
In nearly 57 days since the beginning of 2026, HYDRAA quietly reclaimed 87.83 acres of land worth at least ₹10,804 crore. The single largest operation this year came in February, when HYDRAA reclaimed 11 acres near the Madhapur Hitech Exhibition Centre and demolished hundreds of shops within the Full Tank Level of Mondikunta Cheruvu recovering assets worth an estimated ₹2,200 crore. According to officials, the agency has so far saved government lands worth more than ₹70,000 crore since its inception. HYDRAA works in close coordination with revenue, municipal, police and disaster management departments, using a combination of field inspections, satellite imagery, grievance redress platforms, and legal verification to act against illegal occupations.
Location Context: Kondapur and Pragathi Nagar – At the Heart of Hyderabad’s IT Belt
Kondapur sits within the Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district, one of Hyderabad’s most valuable real estate micro-markets, immediately adjacent to Hitech City, Gachibowli, and the Financial District. Land values in this corridor routinely exceed ₹1 lakh per square yard for prime parcels, making even small-acreage encroachments represent enormous monetary stakes. Pragathi Nagar in Kukatpally is another rapidly developed residential micro-market, where lake buffer encroachments have historically been among the most common and financially motivated violations.
